Sesiwn Fawr Dolgellau is pleased to announce that the festival will take place this year in virtual form.

Over the past months, the Organizing Committee of has been eagerly awaiting an announcement that will allow the traditional Sesiwn Fawr to take place in Dolgellau town centre after postponing the annual festival in 2020 due to Covid-19.

Due to the current situation regarding the pandemic, the organisers have decided to arrange a different but innovative festival to celebrate the folk music tradition in Wales and beyond, following the success of their virtual festival in 2020.

Therefore, attendees are invited to celebrate by subscribing to a diverse package of top-quality music, literature and comedy sessions on the weekend of 16-18 July 2021. This year’s Sesiwn will be in digital format but still draw on ‘live’ performances of artists from Wales and beyond.

Guto Lewys Dafydd, Chair of the Dolgellau Sesiwn Fawr Committee explains: “It’s been an uncertain time for us as organisers. After postponing last year’s event we were obviously looking forward to inviting everyone back to Dolgellau this year to celebrate, but we must consider the health and wellbeing of residents as well as our supporters and volunteers. We are therefore arranging a virtual festival again this year and show support for our artists.”

Ywain Myfyr, the festival’s Secretary, said: “We are happy that we’re able to adapt our plans for Sesiwn Fawr and provide entertainment during these uncertain times. Circumstances permitting, we look forward to welcoming our audience back to Dolgellau in 2022, which also falls on the festival’s 30th anniversary.”

The latest information will be posted on the Sesiwn Fawr website and social media channels.
